Alexander Lau Shing-Ho is recognized for his profound musicality and technical mastery, emerging as a distinctive voice of his generation. His journey began in Hong Kong under the guidance of Ms. Katherine Lu, demonstrating exceptional promise from an early age. This promise was confirmed when, at just 16, he earned the prestigious Fellowship of Trinity College London (FTCL) and was exceptionally admitted to the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) while still in his second year of high school.

Alexander’s artistic development has been shaped under the tutelage of masters. He graduated with First Class Honours from the HKAPA under Professor Gabriel Kwok, later pursuing his Master of Performance and Artist Diploma at the Royal College of Music in London as a scholar of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund and the Croucher Foundation. There, he studied under the great Russian pianist Dmitri Alexeev. He has also been profoundly influenced by the late Aquiles Delle Vigne, a direct link to the legendary pianistic traditions of Claudio Arrau and György Cziffra. His artistry has been further refined in masterclasses with a constellation of piano greats, including Eliso Virsaladze, Kun-woo Paik, Louis Lortie, Arie Vardi, François-Frédéric Guy, Robert Levin, Mikhail Voskresensky, Makoto Ueno, Markus Schirmer, Michel Dalberto, Peter Donohoe, Michel Dalberto, Adriano Jordao, Craig Sheppard, Graham Scott, Tamás Ungár and Ilja Scheps.

A laureate of several international competitions, Lau’s accolades include the Third Prize at the Singapore International Piano Competition (2023), the Hopkinson Silver Medal at the RCM's Chappell Medal Piano Competition (2022), and Third Prize at the Campillos International Piano Competition in Spain (2021), which led to a performance with the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Málaga. Earlier successes include winning the 2019 Young Artist Audition of the Hong Kong Musicus Society, resulting in a performance with the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, and top prizes at the Coimbra World Piano Competition in Portugal and the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia.

As a dedicated performer, Alexander Lau Shing-Ho has captivated audiences across Asia and Europe. His solo and concerto engagements have taken him to prestigious stages such as the Grosses Saal at the Salzburger Festspiele, Hong Kong City Hall, Hitachi Systems Hall Sendai, Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama, and major concert halls in mainland China. With a growing schedule that includes recitals in Shanghai, Nanning, he continues to build a compelling and dynamic career.
