Hui Chak-Wai Thomas is a piano teacher beloved by all his students. Hui was graduated from the music department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in piano performance under the guidance of Mr Raymond Young Chap-Lai. He studied composing with Professor Wendy Lee Wan-Ki and Dr. Chan Kai-Young, and piano pedagogy with Dr Poon Kiu-Tung and Dr. Annie Mok On-Nei. After his undergraduate study, he studied piano elementary teaching with Dr. Dale Wheeler under the programme of the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Hui succeeded in different competitions. He was the champion with a first-class award in ‘2017 Chopin Memorable Prize’ Hong Kong-International piano competition – Chopin Impromptu Group. In the same year, he won the third prize in Antonio Vivaldi Youth Music Competition Vienna 2017.

From 2017 – 2018, he was a teacher of a music program of Lok Sin Tong Yang Xiao Ling Speech Therapy Centre for SEN children aged 3 – 8. In 2021, he was invited to hold a music workshop for the elderly in ELCHK, Shatin District Community Centre for the Golden-Aged. From 2023, he has been invited to be the programme director of the music enlightenment courses for children in the Prestige Music Academy.

Hui is devoted in piano teaching. With his unique, interactive music pedagogy, he inspires students to have excellent performance in various music competitions. He was awarded the Teacher Award by Hong Kong Youth Performance Art and Development Association (HKYPA) in 2018 and the Outstanding Teacher Award by Hong Kong International Musicians and Arts Association (HKIMAA) in 2019. He was continuously awarded the Best Teacher Honour Award by the International Fringe Association in 2021 and 2022.

Graduated from HKAPA with a Bachelor of Music degree with Dean’s Prize, Wailly Kau Yin-wai majoring in piano under the tutelage of Colleen Lee. Wailly was awarded Bernard van Zuiden Music Fund by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society Limited and HSBC Trustee (Hong Kong) Limited, together with The Eduard and Marianna Loeser Award, to pursue her post-graduate study at Guildhall school of music and Drama, studying under Noriko Ogawa.

Since 2012, Wailly has participated in different competitions, and was awarded the Apollo Prize in the 20th Japan Hamamatsu Piara Piano Competition and champion in Hong Kong Youth Piano Competition. She had been invited to record soundtracks for ‘Septet: The Story of Hong Kong’, which was the official selection of omnibus film of 2020 Cannes Film Festival. She was also chosen as “The Most Popular Artist” and was awarded 2nd prize of Piano Duo (Senior Group) in the 3rd Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition in 2022.

Leo Tsui graduated from The Education University of Hong Kong, with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture (Music), majoring in Piano. Being an experienced accompanist for the choir in his university, he has won the champion (with Saxy Boys) in the Music Skills Enhancement Scheme (MUSES) Chamber Award.

Veronika Cheng is a Classical Pianist and music teacher based in Hong Kong who started her piano and music studies at 7. Cheng performed around Europe, U.S., U.K., and Korea. In 2011, Cheng won the champion of Beacon-CSU Stanislaus international piano competition in the U.S., a performance of Beethoven Sonata, which brought her to continue her music study at Hong Kong Baptist University. Cheng was always invited to attend open master classes, she had classes under Mary Wu, Jeffery Swann, Yue Chu, and Julia Mao. Cheng is passionate about chamber music, she was performed with serval violinists, violists, cellists, and pianists in Piano Trio and Two Piano Four Hands performances. Cheng also won serval competitions around mainland China and Hong Kong. Including the 4th and 5th Piano Duet and Two Piano Competition in Shenzhen, the 20th Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition. Cheng’s performance always inspires people with an enthusiastic, deep understanding, and warm image. Cheng has also participated in many overseas master classes and studying under different overseas pianists and music educators since she was a child, including two visits to Vienna, San Francisco, Los Angeles and other places.

Cheng graduated with a Merit result from the Master of Art in Music programme at Hong Kong Baptist University. With having over 10 years of experience in piano and music theory teaching, Cheng’s students also won serval local competition awards including Second Prize in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and several distinction results in ABRSM piano and theory public exams. Samson Ng,畢業於香港浸會大學(音樂文學碩士)及美國 Musicians Institute(現代鋼琴演奏學士),是香港少數同時持有現代鋼琴演奏學士學位及古典音樂碩士的音樂人,在港奠定了古典及流行鋼琴的基礎後遠赴美國荷李活深造現代音樂。在美國留學時期曾跟隨多位著名鋼琴手(包括:Russell Ferrante、Alberto Salas、Mamiko Kitaura 等)學習演奏及編寫不同風格的現代音樂(Latin、Jazz、Pop Ballad、Rock、Funk、Blues、Soul、R&B、Fusion、Film Music),並同時修讀電影配樂。

Samson 多年來演出經驗豐富,在美國留學期間曾在電視台選秀節目為歌手作鋼琴伴奏,並於校內外的各種活動中擔任鋼琴及鍵琴手;在港時亦曾於香港會議展覽中心、香港太空館、各區文化中心及表演場地出任爵士樂隊、搖滾樂隊、管弦樂器、敲擊樂團、個人聲樂演唱、婚禮的鋼琴及鍵琴伴奏,更曾於 Live House 中擔任駐場鍵琴手,歷年來參與演出達數百場。

Samson 有逾 10 年教學經驗,曾在大型連鎖琴行任教,擅長教授即興流行/爵士鋼琴,教學對象主要為成人及青少年,程度由初學至音樂系畢業生,授課時致力於啟發學生在音樂上的創意及自由度,將樂理和樂曲分析融入演奏中,在學習不同樂曲的同時,更會一步步引導學生去找出屬於他們自己的聲音和演奏風格,讓他們可以在鋼琴上自由、隨性地表達自我。

Ken is currently final year music student in HKBU, majoring in piano. He won the 3rd prize in the 1st Hong Kong music talent piano competition in 2016, then he obtained ATCL diploma from the Trinity College of London with distinction in 2018 and began to learn the instrument with Hong Kong pianist Mr Raymond Young in 2019. Moreover, he is experienced in performing in diverse circumstances, such as student concerts, pop band shows, church worships, funeral services and wedding ceremonies. Having more than 4 years of teaching experience, he is also passionate in teaching and started to teach piano during his academic period.

Other than that, he is also a composer who is now studying composition in HKBU. His solo compositions “Unexpected encounter” and “Stars” are recorded by renowned violinist Sergei Malov and harpist Olivia Jageurs respectively. Recently, his string quartet “pendulum” won the 1st prize of the NC Wong Young Composer Award and was premiered by renowned French quartet Quatour Arod.

Born in Hong Kong, Anna Ngai learnt piano with Prof Zhayi Dan and Prof Gabriel Kwok. Moved to Germany in 2008, Anna Ngai studied piano with Prof. Wan-Ing Ong from the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. She graduated from the University Mozarteum of Salzburg with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Piano Music Pedagogy with the head of Keyboard department, Prof. Klaus Kaufmann and minor in chamber music and piano accompaniment. While teaching in Musikum Salzburg, she was invited to perform in the Wasserburg festival in Germany. Ngai has performed in Germany, Austria, Italy, Russia etc. Back to Hong Kong in 2017. During 2019-2021, Ngai was the resident répétiteur of Musica Viva under the Artistic Internship Scheme supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. She has been interviewed as a pianist at Television Station.

Charlie Choi-Lee Hung has completed her studies in The Royal Conservatory of Brussels, earning a Bachelor’s and Masters Degree in Music, majoring in the Harp under the tutelage of world-class harpists Jana Bouskova and Agnes Clement. In between the degrees, she was an exchange student at the Academy for Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU) through the Erasmus Scholarship Programme. She has previously attained the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, Harp Performance (LRSM) and DipABRSM in Harp Performance.

She has performed all over Hong Kong and Europe, including in Belgium, Tignes, France, Ittervoort, Netherlands, Prague, Czech, Tignes, France, and with the Hong Kong Ensemble during the 12th World Harp Congress in Sydney. In 2019 she won the First Prize in the International Music Competition Brussels – Grand Prize Virtuoso and was invited to attend the award ceremony in the distinguished Bozer Concert Hall. She also performed harp solo and chamber music in Ath College Saint Julien Chepel, Chateau de Moulbaix and in Eglise Saint-Martin Church, Chievres, Nazareth in Belgium. In Prague, the Czech Republic, she performed Le Festin de l’Araignee by Roussel, Dny Bohuslava Martinu 2019 as the principal Harpist with the orchestra in Sal Martinu Hall.

In Hong Kong, her performances include the St. John’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner, Shatin Symphony Orchestra Annual Concert and ABRSM Celebration Orchestra as the Principal harpist. She also performs the harp at wedding, ceremonies, openings, special events, orchestras and chamber music. She plays a wide range of repertories from different eras, from baroque, classical, romantic, pop to contemporary music.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, ANDY CHEUNG CHIN TING began his musical education at age of five with piano lessons. Andy is now studying Classical piano with Hung Chong(student of the legendary Yin Chengzong), the famous pianist in Hong Kong. Also, Andy got the teacher appreciated and skipped to the Licentiate diploma of Trinity College London from grade 8 level of ABRSM.

As a enthusiast of music, Andy also studied conducting with Master Mak Ka Lok. He had the privilege of taking a faculty position, as the conductor, at the Scout Concert Band. In the future, Andy would fully devote to music industry and the educational works. He will concentrates on his teaching, mostly as a private instrument and theory teacher, giving private music trainings to various students. This includes extending the scope by launching music training programs in primary and secondary schools, so that more and more of our next generation may have music education.
