John Chan

Born in Hong Kong in 1994. Chan King Wa has been studying clarinet since he was 8 years old and studied with Hong Kong’s famous Clarinetist Martin Choy.

In 2015, Chan went to École Normale De Musique de Paris and engage in advanced studies of Clarinet and Chamber Music with Ronald Van Spaendonck, Jean-marc Volta and Chantal De Buchy. During his studies in Paris, Chan had receive a full sponsor from Musica Mundi to take part in a chamber music course in Brussel in 2017 and after received his Master’s Diploma, Chan had successfully obtained a scholarship to pursue the Concertiste program and graduated from École in 2019.

As a winner of several national and international prizes (Concours «Les Cle D’or», Concours des Lyres et Arts, Concours artistique d’epinal, Concours National De Musique de Lempdes). Chan has since performed in worldwide (including France, Belgium, Japan, Hong Kong , Korea) and appeared as a soloist in the famous concert hall , Mairie de Paris and different churches in Europe, participating in music festivals and master classes.

In 2019, Chan reaches his concertiste diploma with unanimously approved by the jury included international pianist David Lively, clarinetist Paul Mayer, Pierre Génisso and start develop his career in Hong Kong. December of 2020, Chan has received an offer of clarinet instructor from Hong Kong international institute of Music and invited to be the wind section coach of New Hong Kong Philharmonia.

Graduated from the Music Department of Hong Kong Baptist University, under the tutelage of Mr. Choy, Martin Kwok-Tin. Lui has obtained the ATCL diploma of clarinet performance from Trinity College, London, and obtained distinction results. Over the years, Lui has been actively participating in orchestras, wind bands, marching band and ensembles, including China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, O Wind Ensemble, Tom Lee Hong Kong Youth NeoWinds Orchestra, The Pegasus Vanguard, etc. Lui also has gone to Singapore and Japan for exchange and performance. Lui also participated in many performances in Hong Kong, such as Terence Lam Summer Blues Live at Hong Kong coliseum 2022.

Raymond graduated with a Master degree in Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he study under with Mr. Andrew Simon, the Principal Clarinetist of Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Bachelor degree in Music Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University, where he studied under Mr. Martin Choy, the former Principal Clarinetist of Hong Kong Sinfonietta majoring in clarinet. He started his clarinet study at the age of twelve. He has accomplished LTCL Clarinet Recital Diploma with Distinction, ABRSM Grade 8 saxophone and ABRSM Music Theory Grade 8.

Raymond is an active player in many ensembles and orchestras. He is a clarinet player in Hong Kong Baptist University Wind Ensemble, Global Symphony Orchestra concert and China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Victor Tam, Maestro Mak Ka Lok and Dr. Artem Konstantinov. Also, he is a guest contrabass clarinet player in Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia. He played Hong Kong Baptist University Wind Symphony Concerts, the concert of Ten thousand – Ode to Joy, concert at the Musicarama Festival, Video Game Live (World Tour in Shenzhen), Lotus Hill Park Music Festival(Shenzhen) and RTHK Christmas Rhapsody 2016. He has collaborated with the singers, including Candy Lo, Eddie Ng, William Hu and Samantha Lam. He played in the opening ceremony for the Wynn Palace in Macau with CoCo lee and Andrea Bocelli, a world-famous tenor singer. He played as an ensemble player for Horizon 2014, 2015 and Refine 2016, 2017 at Hong Kong City Hall.

Raymond won the 3rd prize of Clarinet category in Manhattan International Young Artists Music Festival in 2017, 2nd prize in Hong Kong Performing Art Festival in 2016 and 3rd prize in Parson Music Festival in 2016.

Also followed by Dr. Wong Tak Chiu to study the saxophone. Victor has passed the Licentiate of Trinity College London (LTCL) in Clarinet and Associateship of Trinity College London (ATCL) in Saxophone .

Victor actively participates in different music activities. Actively participate in performances in various ensembles, including O Wind Ensemble, Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia, Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia and Hong Kong Baptist Symphony Orchestra, etc. He also participated in Share the Stage with HK Phil and performed on the same stage with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Apart from Hong Kong, Chan also went to Austria to participate in an Austrian Master Class and study with Mr. Dario Zingales.

In addition to performing activities, Victor also actively participates in competitions. He won the Champion in the professional group of the 5th Hong Kong Music Talent Music Competition and the First Prize in the chamber music group of the Zhongsin International Music Competition. In 2019, Victor followed O Wind Ensemble, participated in the Nie Er Youth Wind Band Art Week Competition, and won the First Prize in the Open Group.

Victor has over eight years of experience in teaching the clarinet and the saxophone, whether it is one-on-one, group teaching, ensemble and orchestra conducting. Students have achieved excellent results in different competitions and examinations, and Victor has been awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award in the Hong Kong Music Talent Award and the Hong Kong Youth Catania Music Competition. Victor is good at tailor-made courses with individual plans and goals for each student, that aim of making every student develop his or her music talent.

Kelly Lam graduated from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with bachelor degree majoring in clarinet.

She started her clarinet training at 8 with Miss Fanny Lau. She is an active clarinetist, who receives her bachelor degree from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art, studying with John schertle. Lam has achieved Trinity College London (ATCL).

Kelly is also an active orchestral and wind band player. She has participated in 2021 Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra Concert, 2019 Tom Lee HK Clarinet Festival Concert 2011 Taiwan WASBE symphony Band and Ensembles, International Wind band Festival in Taoyuan, and China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra Changsha Concert tour.

Apart from performing, Kelly has 7 years teaching experience.She is teaching as a clarinet teacher in St.Rose primary and secondary school, St. Mary’s Church Mok Hing Yiu College, also with one to one private lesson, group ensemble lesson and band conducting. Many of her students from young age to adults have achieved outstanding result in public music exam.
