Jan Au, graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and received her Master of Music Degree in Cello Performance. Studied under Lionel Handy, former Principal Cellist of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and Nicholas Stringfellow.
Jan started playing the Cello at the age of 9. Her teachers included Chai Hon Fong and An Yue. She then completed her Bachelor of Music (Honours) Degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the guidance of Tung Hiu Lo. Jan also studied the Viola da Gamba under period instruments specialist Lam Tim Wai during her time at the Academy. She has been invited by the Early Music Society of Hong Kong to perform as a Viola da Gamba Soloist on different occasions. Besides performing in Hong Kong, Jan has also been to Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium to perform with Orchestras.
During her time studying in the UK, Jan participated in many masterclasses. She was coached by International Cellist Julian Lloyd Webber, Jian Wang, Toke Møldrup, Ulrich Heinen and Hannah Roberts. Being the Associated Principal Cellist of the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, Jan has performed under the baton of Michael Seal from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Ludovic Morlot from the Seattle Symphony. She was also coached by the members of Castalian String Quartet and Lindsay String Quartet.
Apart from being a soloist, Jan also participated in a variety of music performances and training including String Quartet, Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Music Performance Practice and Music Pedagogy. During her time living in the UK, she has been invited to perform in public often as a soloist and received a lot of positive feedback.
Jan has been teaching for more than 10 years. She is currently a Cello Tutor at the Music Office, Yaumati Catholic Primary School, and the String Ensemble Coach at Sacred Heart Canossian School.
CK Wong is a pianist and cellist, graduated from the Bachelor of Arts in Creative Arts and Culture (Music) at The Education University of Hong Kong. WONG studied playing the piano when she was young and she studied cello now. Also, WONG achieved the ATCL Piano Recital (Distinction) at Trinity College London and Grade 8 music theory at The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Besides, WONG have diverse interests such as taking photographs, not only playing instruments and she was the pianist and cellist in Hong Kong Elite Chamber Orchestra.
Garrick Tang studied with Georg Pedersen at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees as a recipient of the Commonwealth Scholarship. He also studied with Marion Feldman, who is a professor of cello at the Manhattan School of Music. Garrick was the five-time winner at Hong Kong’s Schools Music Festival and holds licentiate diplomas from Trinity College, London in cello and piano. He was also a state semi-finalist at the Sydney Eisteddfod’s Drs NSW Scholarship Competition. As an orchestral musician, he had served as principal cellist at the Sydney Conservatorium Opera Orchestra and co-principal cellist at the Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he received coaching from Ole Bøhn and Goetz Richter.
He was also the principal cellist at HKCSO, established by Dr. Yip Wai Hong. Garrick had performed with Vienna’s Boys Choir throughout Europe and Asia as a representative cellist by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. He was also invited to be a guest cellist at the inaugural Asia-Pacific Youth Symphony Orchestra Music Festival. Garrick was previously a faculty member at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Open Academy. He has also served as an adjudicator for the Hong Kong Children and Youth Arts Association Competition.
