I believe in meeting the student where he/she is in the singing journey. There is not One True Method of teaching voice and every student has a unique learning style. It is my job and joy to discover what makes each student unique and what his/her preference is for musical style and personal goals. I welcome the most beginners of casual singers to the most driven of ABRSM candidates. I also emphasise working with the body and instructing the student to develop muscle memory to achieve his/her best sound. Voice students must be connected to the texts of their songs, so I want students to sing songs that they are passionate about. This will lead to the most heartfelt and honest interpretation of repertoire. It is my hope that by studying voice, the student will gain a skill as a musician and discover parts of themselves as humans.
