Jonathan is a Flautist born and raised in Hong Kong. He has graduated with a first class honor at the Royal College of Music in 2020, studying under Katie Bedford and Sue Thomas, and has previously studied with Gitte Marcusson and Andy Panayi. In 2018, he was unanimously selected as the Sevenoaks Young Musician of the Year, and in 2019 he was the winner of the Springboard Concerto Competition open class as well as the Princess Galyani Vadhana International Competition. He has also performed as the soloist with the Lydian Orchestra in 2018.
Jonathan started playing the flute at the age of 6 under Ms Candace Chan, and under Ms Ivy Chuang since the age of 10. He was admitted into the Program for the Musically Gifted at St Paul’s Co-educational College. Jonathan was the principal flautist at both Kei Wan Primary School (Aldrich Bay) Orchestra under the baton of Mr Fung Kai Man, and at St Paul’s Co-educational College Orchester under Ms Carmen Koon. He has competed and performed both as a soloist and with orchestras in the UK, France, Austria, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, Japan, Taiwan, Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Jonathan received numerous flute solo awards at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festivals, and was granted the Parson’s Music Scholarship for Wind, Brass and Percussion in 2015. Jonathan was awarded Second Prize at the open-class competition at the 9th Singapore Flute Festival 2018, and was a finalist in the 3rd International Berliner Music Competition, the Westbourne Concerto Competition and a semifinalist in the Sir Karl Jenkins Music Trust as well as the Bromsgrove International Music Competition 2019.
Jonathan has performed in various masterclasses globally for Julien Beaudiment, Loic Schneider, Robert Manasse and Adam Walker. He has performed for fund-raising for Education Development Program and at leprosy villages in China. He was the founder and conductor of St Paul’s Co-educational College Flute Choir, and served as a flute coach at the Music Children Foundation Orchestra.

Lesson Booking Procedure: | |
1. | Submit student information; The tutor will respond according to the information.Messages between student/tutor will be screenshotted or forwarded through M5 Music.* |
2. | Discuss and arrange the lesson time, location, tuition fee, etc. |
3. | The lesson will be confirmed after completing the payment of the Tuition of the First Lesson. |
4. | Take the lesson according to the booking time. |
5. | The second lesson and beyond are arranged by the student/tutor themselves. |

Before student/parent makes payment: | |
i. | Some tutors do NOT accept direct contact. |
ii. | Some tutors will call student/parent with a “Hidden Number”.* |

* | After contacting the tutor, if the student/parent intends to take a lesson, the tuition of the first lesson has to be paid to M5 Music before having lesson. |
The tuition of the first lesson is charged by M5 Music (accept Bank Transfer or FPS); Students do NOT need to pay additional fee for the first lesson.
Starting from the second lesson, please pay tuition directly to the tutor. Generally, four lessons will be calculated as one session. Please check with your tutor about the payment method for the second lesson and beyond.
M5 Music and all tutors do NOT offer free trial lessons. All “trial lessons” are considered as the “first lesson”.
Student’s absent must be proposed 24 hours before the lesson time. Otherwise, it will be regarded as “Impromptu Absence”. Providing a make-up lesson or not will be decided by the tutor him/herself. Hereby declare, M5 Music will NOT provide refund for “Impromptu Absence” even if the tutor does not want to provide a make-up lesson.
If the first lesson is affected by typhoon and rainstorm warning, M5 Music can assist both parties to reschedule the lesson.
We only provide a refund if the tutor is absent on the original booking time, and cannot provide a make-up lesson for the next 14 days. Apart from this, we do not accept any refund request.
