Gip Chan, won first place on the timpani in the Italian Percussion Competition.
It has been published in Rhythm Scene, USA, DrumSet MAG and Drum Club, Italy, Percussion Creativ, off-beat Magszine, Germany. He also appeared on the front page of the South China Morning Post, Music and Story and "Knowledge Up Knowledge".

He has performed numerous times in the United States, Europe, Asia and other places, and has performed under the direction of many well-known musicians. He has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Pan Asian Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma and YMCG, World Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Love Orchestra, Bachelor Orchestra, Asia Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong Young Wind Musicians, Hong Kong Baptist University Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong Kong and other bands performed. He has also been a soloist with the Malaysia Percussion Festival Orchestra, the Hong Kong Baptist University Orchestra, the Wind Orchestra and the Percussion Orchestra.

Chan is currently teaching at Yip's Children's Music Practice Centre and Hong Kong Festival Conservatory of Music. He also conducts percussion ensembles, teaches marching drum teams and instrumental classes in various primary and secondary schools, including Pui Ching Primary, Heep Yan Primary, Chin Dao Primary, Po Blood Primary, Yuen Long District Secondary School, Heung Yee Kuk, New Territories, and so on.

In 2015, Chen was invited to teach at Korea Qingsong Cultural Center and co-organized the "To Dream" concert, which was well received by the mayor of Qingsong City. In the same year, he was invited to lead Korean students in the largest apple festival in South Korea - Green Pine Apple Festival.
He is currently the artistic advisor of Drum Corp Asia and Shanghai IPEA Champion drum team Shanghai Feiye UP Drumline. Chen is committed to the development of step exercises and marching music, and was awarded the DCI Academy Level 6 in 2014. The division studied marching percussion with Drum Corps International (DCI) judge Steve Ulicny, and also studied with one of Asia's leading drum soloists, Naoku Ishikawa. From 2011 to 2013, he was the drummer for center snare of the Purjas Orchestra, with which he received numerous awards.

She was awarded the "Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Scholarship Fund - Talent Development Scholarship" twice in 2014 and 2015 in recognition of her talents and achievements in the arts.

He studied percussion with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra at Baptist University, and with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra as its principal timpanist. He also studied with many of the world's leading percussion players.

In August 2017, Gip Percussion Ensemble, artistic director of which Chen is the artistic director, was established as a non-profit organization. Led by an honorary artistic consultant, GIP Percussion Ensemble engages young percussion musicians to promote Hong Kong and percussion culture. The orchestra is now an artist of the Canadian brand Soultone Cymbals, and with the support of the HKADC, it plans to host the 2019 "Australia ~ Asia Percussion Festival!

How to Book a Lesson

Lesson Booking Procedure:
1.Submit student information; The tutor will respond according to the information.Messages between student/tutor will be screenshotted or forwarded through M5 Music.
2.Discuss and arrange the lesson time, location, tuition fee, etc.
3.The lesson will be confirmed after completing the payment of the Tuition of the First Lesson.
4.Take the lesson according to the booking time.
5.The second lesson and beyond are arranged by the student/tutor themselves.

Is it Allowed to Contact the Tutor before Making Payment?

Protecting tutors’ personal privacy is our job; Tutors need to avoid unnecessary leakage of privacy.

Before student/parent makes payment:
i.Some tutors do NOT accept direct contact.
ii.Some tutors will call student/parent with a “Hidden Number”.
iii.Some tutors accept to contact student/parent through various ways.
After contacting the tutor, if the student/parent intends to take a lesson, the tuition of the first lesson has to be paid to M5 Music before having lesson.

Tuition of the First Lesson

The tuition of the first lesson is charged by M5 Music (accept Bank Transfer or FPS); Students do NOT need to pay additional fee for the first lesson.

Tuition of the Second Lesson and Beyond

Starting from the second lesson, please pay tuition directly to the tutor. Generally, four lessons will be calculated as one session. Please check with your tutor about the payment method for the second lesson and beyond.

No Free Trail Lesson

M5 Music and all tutors do NOT offer free trial lessons. All “trial lessons” are considered as the “first lesson”.

Student's Absence Notice

Student’s absent must be proposed 24 hours before the lesson time. Otherwise, it will be regarded as “Impromptu Absence”. Providing a make-up lesson or not will be decided by the tutor him/herself. Hereby declare, M5 Music will NOT provide refund for “Impromptu Absence” even if the tutor does not want to provide a make-up lesson.

Typhoons and Rainstorms Arrangement

If the first lesson is affected by typhoon and rainstorm warning, M5 Music can assist both parties to reschedule the lesson.

Refund Policy

We only provide a refund if the tutor is absent on the original booking time, and cannot provide a make-up lesson for the next 14 days. Apart from this, we do not accept any refund request.
