Born in Hong Kong, David started his violin studies when he was five and a half years old. He is a violin student of Mr. Cheng Yat Wah and Albert Yue Cheng since the age of 12.

In 2016-2017, David studied under Ms. Rosamund Bromley (Concertmaster of Salisbury Symphony Orchestra) while in the UK pursuing his academic studies. He was later accepted into St. Mary’s Music School, a specialist music school in Edinburgh and has gained experience in chamber music, academic music, orchestra and choir. He studied under Assistant Leader of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Ruth Crouch and he also worked with piano collaborator/coach John Cameron and attended his performance class. During his time in the UK, he studied under London Royal Academy of Music violinist Professor Remus Azoitei. Outside of school, He was invited to play in the Edinburgh Competition Festival Orchestra. Besides Classical Violin, David had a valuable opportunity in participating in the Early Music Winter Weekend at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and gained knowledge about the historical informed performance practice in the Baroque period and its transition from the 20th to 21st century. He has also played in Baroque Violin demonstration lessons and was in a Violin masterclass with Ms. Sayuri Yamagata.

David loved going to concerts and whilst he was in Edinburgh, he had the opportunity to listen and attend around three classical concerts per month. He has attended Alexander Technique sessions at school and was trained to be more mindful of Violin playing postures, movements and unhelpful habits. Thus, he was able to help his students get rid of any excessive tensions when playing the violin. He has been playing without the aid of a shoulder rest. In addition, David has been trained to work with students with SEN (Special Education Needs) through a Dyslexia specialist school in UK.

He completed his Associate Degree of Arts (Music Studies) at the College of International Education of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2021 and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Music Degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has performed in several cities around the world which include Edinburgh, London, Amsterdam and Hong Kong and has received many scholarships from JK & Ingrid Lee Foundation and HKSAR Government.
